NYC How I Love You!

Outfit Details:

top: Ann Taylor
pants: Express
shoes: Aldo
bracelet: Gin & Juniper
bag: Dooney & Bourke via Threadflip

I absolutely love New York and when I am there the fast paced environment makes me feel productive, alive and ready to take on new projects. So when I couldn't go to fashion week because of work I was really sad. Even more so when I saw the news feeds exploding with all the happenings in New York during fashion week. This made me miss New York even more.

I was bursting with excitement when I was contacted by Audrey from Jordan Taylor and I figured why not use that as an excuse to make the trip up there!

This is what I wore and believe me when I say I did not make a wardrobing mistake here, finally! I wanted to wear something that was comfortable because I was going to be walking around the city all day and chic at the same time.

The Aldo boots were perfect for the job even though they are reaching the end of their journey with me and will have to retire soon. They have a nice heel, which only add to their comfort level. What could be better!

They have had a good run of things, taking me from show to show and everywhere in between. Next adventure in the world of fashion will be finding their replacement.

This outfit is a great beginning of fall choice because it kept me from getting cold but wasn't too heavy for when I was in the bright sunshine.

Hopefully soon I will be able to make another trip up north to see the city I love so much!

What is your favorite city?

My lovely model for the L. Catherine Show at Concept Fashion Week, keyed by Melanie Mills.
Packed and ready to go to NYC for Fashion Week! Seems like it was so long ago , but it was only last week!

So after a roll of paper towels, 3 packages of wipes, package of mascara wands, a bottle of brush cleaner, bottle of eye makeup remover, glitter stuck to everything, nails chipped and broken, feet ready to fall off ...another glorious New York Fashion Week comes to an end! There are so many beautiful designs to still write about and share with all of you!!

This fall/winter season offered such a beautiful marriage between textures and strong silhouettes. The hair and makeup complemented the personality of each collection beautifully.

Stay tuned for more reviews about the rest of the shows I participated in for New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2013 collections!

Beauty Bar in NYC

Beauty Bar NYC

Back in August my sisters and I went to New York City to celebrate my younger sister’s 21st birthday. We met up with my cousins and after we had some delicious Mexican food we made our way to the Beauty Bar on E 14th St.

My Manicure from the Beauty Bar
I really didn’t know what to expect when my cousin told me about the place. So I thought it would be this bright space with a circular bar in the middle with chairs around it for the customers to sit and get their nails done and drink fancy fruity drinks. I was thinking the Beauty Bar was going to look more like a salon than a bar.

Retro Beauty Parlor Decor

When we walked into the place after having out ID’s checked (only 21 and above). I was happily surprised to find this amazing swanky bar with retro beauty parlor décor. Great music was playing and there was a nice variety of people hanging out at this bar.

Amazing bar at the Beauty Bar

It was $10 to get in and that included the manicure and one drink (an amazing deal I know!). The drinks were so delicious, you definitely get your money’s worth! I had the one with Bourbon, since I am a definite admirer of Bourbon.

The manicurist I had was very nice and did a great job! I loved the color, which was a fun orange red. I definitely recommend this place to start any night out with the girls! Such a perfect place to get ready for a fun bachelorette party as well!
Treat yourself!

NYFW SS '13: Neodandi

Neodandi Show
9/13/12

Lead Artists: Carolyn Thombs, Shaq Curry, Shalonda Curtis, and Jaegger Ray Pendoley

For the makeup look we collaborated with the designer, Niilartey De Osu, and Director of Operations, Mani De Osu. For the first part of the presentation we did a very bright eye with champagne shimmer and a slight contour in the crease and then a bright pink used as a stain to make a more subtle use of the bright lipstick.

For the second part, with the bright knits, we added a bright purple to the lid and used bright pink lipstick or a burnt orange on the lips.

The show was very organic and free, which was the perfect embodiment of the clothing displayed by the models. Some of the pieces were extremely wearable as well as being more artistic. Overall it was a moving and fascinating show. He is definitely a designer to keep an eye on in the future.
