Cape with Fur Trim

Outfit Details:
cape: vintage
top: Boston Proper
skirt: Brooks Brothers
necklace: vintage
boots: unknown

I have never really gotten into capes before (except for costumes when I was younger), but as a fashion statement they had never crossed my radar. Now you see them popping up all over the fashion world. An easy way to stay warm while letting your arms stay free and mobile. This concept makes so much sense, because sometimes a coat can really restrict your arm movement and then if you get warm you have to struggle to take the whole coat off. With a cape air flow is able to circulate unless you don't want it to and then you can easily bundle up.

Here this look is very elegant and chic, not necessarily a typical ensemble I gravitate towards, but one I wouldn't mind popping on once in awhile to feel extra "ritzy".

How do you guys feel about capes?

Here are some beautiful ones that I am loving:

New Mules

Outfit Details:
top: Land's End
pants: unknown (similar)
heels: Kenneth Cole New York (in black

A little while ago I was shopping in DSW and found these beauties!! I thought about it long and hard whether I needed these in my shoe wardrobe or not. The final decision was...obviously!!!! The first day I wore these I had work and a bunch of errands to run, which I completed everything while wearing these babies!!

They are so comfortable and can definitely last the whole day running around or running around a cocktail party networking. I am so glad I have these now in mynposession and am now wishing I had the black ones as well!!

What are your thoughts on mules?

Black & Blue

Outfit Details:

This is one of my typical fall into early winter uniforms, especially with this unusually nice weather we have been having lately!!! It is not actually very easy to find slightly loose v-neck sweaters, even though it is one of my favorite things to wear. I have to be careful when I wear loose sweaters sometimes, since I have a larger chest sometimes loose sweaters can add unflattering bulk to my figure especially if they have a high neckline.

The way to have that comfy loose feel without adding the extra look of bulk is so find sweaters with either a regular v-neck or a sexy deep v or even the wider ballet neckline! If you find a sweater you just have to have and it has a higher neckline, not to worry there are other ways of creating a flattering appearance and that is through the power of necklaces. Pairing a statement necklace or a longer necklace with say a sweater with a crew neck helps to give the appearance of a v -neck and helps to break up bland spaces.

Here I chose to add a long necklace to elongate things even more. Since this is one of my favorite necklaces to wear I decided to change it up a  bit . I did that by hanging this feather earring off of the medallion! Clever, right?!

How is everyone's holiday shopping going??
