Hello Green!

Outfit Details:

blazer: Rachel Roy via Macy's
wedges: Ann Taylor

I love that nature has decided to look lively again! Green is finally popping up everywhere!

I borrowed this skirt from the I  Heart Aardvarks  boutique and love the outfit I assembled with it. I am especially glad that the dogwood was in bloom because it acted as a beautiful accent for some of the images. I paired mostly black with the green so it popped more. This Rachel Roy blazer was a dream when I found it and really love the black and white flowers and black paneling paired with the vibrant green.

At first I was a little wary about the length of the skirt and since I have a shorter torso sometimes things that are flowy and cut at my waist, seriously truncate my body. So by pairing a form-fitting blazer that was longer, it helped to elongate my torso and the sky-high wedges kept my legs from disappearing in the length of the skirt. This length may not be the best for someone who is shorter, just opt for the maxi skirt and let that length go all the way to your feet.

Does this length of skirt make anyone else nervous about trying it? ...I will say that once you find your perfect pairings to make it work; trust me, the jump to trying it is worth it!

Game of Thrones Inspired Wedding

(Love this team of peeps to work with :) )

You all may have seen this shoot already up on other blogs or links to it on facebook, I just had to share it on mine as well!

This was such a fun shoot that Mollie and Katie decided to do, and I loved it especially because I love Game of Thrones! I am still working on reading the books, and by reading the books I mean I still haven't finished the first one...eek! But that is my fault because I don't make the time anymore to read. But I am fully caught up on the show and my honey love has read all of the books that are out and no matter how many questions I ask and how much I pry he does not tell me any spoilers! Which should be a good thing, but I am one of those readers/watchers that kind of likes knowing what I am getting into before I read a book or watch a movie. So enough of that little tangent...

The hair and makeup of this shoot was whimsical mixed with strong and sexy. I did a bronze and gilded gold smokey eye with a soft rose pink lip. The wind had a great time whipping her hair around and blow drying those curls I had put in straight, but oh well it still looks great in the amazing photos by Mollie. Mollie provided a beautiful dainty crown for Natalie's hair that fit perfectly into the wild, rustic and royal themed wedding.

Who else loves Game of Thrones and is geeking out about this great styled shoot?

Petal Pink

Outfit Details:
sweater: Talbots
top: Banana Republic
pants: H&M
shoes: Talbots

There is just something so pretty and dainty about a soft petal pink. I am not a fan of wearing pink a lot, not because I don't like it, but because I find it is not the most flattering color on me. One tint of pink I do find I don't mind wearing is that soft ballerina pink or a soft petal pink (probably not the correct legit names, but you get what I am saying). They are soft enough to be neutral, yet not too neutral.

What are your favorite shades/tints of pink?

The Event Planner: Desiree from Perfectly Yours (they are all about taking the stress away on the wedding day)

The Florist Designer: Emily from Love Blooms (she is a truly a rock star, I am so glad to have met her and we totally has the same vision for these flowers)

The Hair and Make-up: Me from Carolyn Thombs Makeup Artistry and Consulting

The Invitations: Meant to Be Calligraphy (they are so awesome, they even offer calligraphy workshops, I’m so doing one in the future)

The Dress: Amy’s Bridal Boutique (if you need a dress this is the shop to go, they are so sweet and generous I will be shopping there in the future for a vow renewal for sure)

Vintage Chairs: Something Vintage (Dawn is wonderful, she rents out vintage furniture for events, so if you are in need of some really cool things check out her stuff)

The Yummy Cake: Cakes by Casey

The Compass Boutonniere: All for Love by Gina (she is an etsy shop owner who makes all things for weddings and stuff like that, the boutonniere was amazing!)

Models: Megan and Justin

For the makeup I decided to keep it very fresh and light to compliment the fresh colors of the flower crown and the romantic sophistication of the lace wedding dress. For the hair I absolutely love curls and will style someone's hair in curls every chance I get! I piled the curls some-what haphazardly to mimic the organic composition of the flower crown she has on, so that they came together in one cohesive piece and not two separate beings.

This shoot was the first I had done with Brandilynn and it will not be the last! She is an amazing photographer and captures beauty in not only the inanimate settings and decor but the beauty that emanates from a couple in love.

Check out more photos from the shoot on Brandilynn's Blog: Gold Inspired Nautical Shoot
