A Night Out

Outfit Details:
tights: via Macys
shoes: ShoeMint
snake ring: BCBG MaxAzria

For Jon's work holiday party I decided to jazz it up with some fun sequins and a different style than I normally wear. I got this dress from Piperlime during their additional 50% off sale after Christmas. It is part of the Piperlime collection, actually all the pieces I purchased from that sale were part of the Piperlime collection!

I loved so many pieces they created, they have pieces that all wardrobes need and plenty of different things to jazz up your wardrobe. I wanted to keep my purchases to pieces that would enhance my wardrobe and add something to it that I didn't already have.

This piece definitely fit the bill and was the perfect dress for a night of mingling with my fiancĂ© (eeks it still feels so crazy using that word) and his coworkers and dancing the night away.

For my actual outfit out I chose a slightly lower pair of heels since I knew there would be some walking and definitely some dancing!

Stay tuned for my makeup tutorial up this week on how to get this vampy look!

Don't forget to grab your bottle of Hypnotik Hair from 1am beauty before 2|14 and use code HYPLIP15 to get half off!!!!!

Sweater Dress

Outfit Details:
dress: taken from my mom
boots: Vince Camuto

Simple.

Sometimes you just have to keep it simple. I had no idea I was gonna wear this outfit at first, it was a last minute grab as I ran out the door. Once I put it on it just worked and was so comfortable. Easy to layer over top of in order to keep out this horrid winter weather.

Whenever I get outfit-block (similar to writers block), if I try to throw a lot of things together to create an outfit it just turns out looking wrong. So when I simplify things and subtract a few pieces, the clouds clear and a solid outfit is born!

What do you do when you are suffering from "outfit-block"?

Dressed Down

Outfit Details:
top: Piperlime Collection (on major sale now too!!!)
pants: Express
clutch: Hand painted by Me
ring: BCBG MaxAzria
boots: Asos (similar)
sunglasses: Asos (similar)

After Christmas Piperlime always has an amazing sale (additional 50% off of sales items!), so of course since I got a gift card to use at Piperlime I totally took advantage of the sale! This sweater is one of the pieces I got this time around.

When choosing pieces from the sale items I thought of these criteria when perusing the selection:  something I have been wanting for some time, would fill a void in my wardrobe, add diversity to my wardrobe and I can create at least 3 outfits with the piece. Lately I have been wanting comfy easy to throw on sweaters to wear on a casual day of working or running errands. This sweater fit into the category of filling a void in my wardrobe and also adds some diversity to my wardrobe since I didn't have anything like it.

These are the usual steps I try to take before making a purchase, this helps me to keep my errant spending at a minimum (for the most part) and to try and fill my wardrobe with pieces I love, instead of having pieces that I will never wear. So if you are trying to cut back on random shopping sprees that result in buying millions of things and only really loving 3 of the pieces; try to come up with some criteria like I have to keep needless spending at bay. Another tip I have is to have a list of things that you really need in your wardrobe, and add to the list whenever you think of something. So before you shop look over the list and see what is on there to remind yourself to stay on track.

What steps do you take to keep your shopping addiction at bay?

Casual

 Outfit Details:

sunglasses: Forever 21
shirt: Gap
sweater: Mango
boots: Aldo (similar on sale too!!)
bag: Chictopia
rings: HauteLook
lipstick: Lancome L'absolu Rouge Caprice (similar)

For a Fall temperature Winter day I chose to wear this casual ensemble for a lunch date! The sweater and long-sleeved tee was perfect for the slight chill. I don't wear these boots very often but I do love them, they just need more breaking into. I love how they looked with the faux leather striped Vince leggings.

More and more lately leggings, a sweater and boots have been my uniform. One thing I am going to work on this year is to utilize my wardrobe to its full extent and not let pieces just sit around lonely. So stay tuned for some tres chic pieces to be featured soon!!

I hope everyone had a fun filled New Years Eve and have had a great start to the new year!!!
