Wedding Dress Shopping Outfit

I got this dress a bit ago, as part of making my personal style a bit more defined. I have so many varied styles that I like, I decided last year, in an effort to clear out the clutter, that I would also try to only purchase items that I knew I would love to wear and not just think, I would maybe wear them. This has really helped me to clean out unworn and over-worn items from my closet. All of this will also help with my move coming later this year!

This piece was part of a bunch of pieces I found at Macy's and was probably the piece I was most excited about. It is that perfect combo of comfortable looseness and a boho look with a 30's drop waist silhouette. This is one of the avenues my personal style likes to take-- that boho chic look. One thing that is great about this dress is that yes, it could do that boho look, especially if I paired it with some boots/booties and a cute floppy hat and some long necklaces; but here I have actually gone more towards the 30's look and taken advantage of the drop waist look. And by pairing it with my low Mary Jane styled Talbots heels it completed the look perfectly.

To sum things up, I have been trying to replace non-versatile pieces with versatile pieces that I know I will get more wear out of without forcing the look.

Double Fishtail

I recently had a bridal inquiry for hair and makeup and the style she was thinking of was a chic boho double fishtail braid style. When I first saw the inspiration photo she sent me, I was a little apprehensive because yes I know how to do a fishtail braid, but this was definitely not a style my brides had asked for before. So I told her I would practice it and see how it looked and get back to her. 

Well this was on my second try!! I think it turned out pretty well! It is definitely a messy free-flowing style and I loved it. For those of you with less layers in your hair , the messiness will be toned down. Also second day hair with some dry shampoo helps with giving you some texture and volume for the style. And I used little clear plastic ties to secure the hair.

 I really appreciate this bride -to-be for getting me to try something new! I can't wait to try this on her at her trial coming up this next weekend!!

Boho Dream

The bohemian lifestyle has always been a distant dream of mine. To travel from location to location, following your heart and wherever the wind takes you. However to live that life I would have to give up so much that I need to survive- structure and a steady schedule. 

My schedule already is pretty varied, but I never take the time to wander or to take a spontaneous trip because I am too worried about missing out on work or ignoring that never ending to-do list. 

Once in a while when I pop on a piece like this; colorful, free flowing and comfortable; I feel instantly relaxed and "zenned out". I feel that I can breathe and even if I don't drive anywhere relaxing, if I just step outside and appreciate the nature and space immediately around me then I can imagine even for a moment that I am living that "boho" dream. My mind and soul are at rest and my body starts to rejuvenate itself. 

My body and soul are forever split between being a structured "boss lady" and a free spirited artist craving the unknown. When I sit and relax the two halves are able to co-mingle peacefully without forcing one or the other into submission. There is a definite necessity for both halves to exist in my body and soul, but I need to be true to myself and allow both to exist simultaneously so that I am not continually hiding half of my personality in order to blend in and become assimilated into every group I am present in. 

My emotions want to rule my thoughts and by constantly locking them away they are becoming mingled with all of the emotions I absorb around me and I don't even know what I feel anymore. I need to get back to what truly drives me and react how I want to react and how my body needs to; instead of trapping it all away because of not wanting to lose control over myself or my emotions. Once they are out there and once I am able to let go it will allow me to become weightless and regain the ability to live without the constant burden of all of my negativity and overpowering structure.

Letting loose is necessary to truly live and to fully enjoy life instead of watching it go by. This will help me to become a stronger "boss lady" because I will be whole and not split between two worlds. I need to release the burdens of my heart and end the inner turmoil. Once this is achieved I know I will be able to view the world more openly and jump at opportunities instead of tip toe towards them.  

I put this out there because maybe some of you have gone through this and need to know that you are not alone!

This was one of those wonderful days where the weather was somewhat perfect for shooting outside. Warm sunshine and clear skies, the wind was the only chilling part about it.

I have wanted to shoot this skirt ever since I got it altered so I would actually wear it (check out my other skirt that I altered: Alter It). It is perfect to wear with boots as I have here or even flats! I decided to wear it lower on the waist with a slouchy sweater and some jewelry for a pretty fall look. These fun ASOS floral sunnies were the perfect addition to add that sweet funky edge to the outfit.

I have also worn this skirt higher on the waist and paired it with one of my crop tops, that outfit is more suitable for spring. Stay tuned for that version in the new year!! But for now I am going to try and hold onto this odd warm weather for as long as I can!!
