“A person does not grow from the ground like a vine or a tree, one is not part of a plot of land. Mankind has legs so it can wander.”
― Roman PayneThe Wanderess

Whenever I wear boots I get this urge to go somewhere. It never truly matters where, I just get the feeling my legs need to be walking somewhere surrounded by nature. I love taking hikes in the fall and winter (clothed in the appropriate clothing of course) because even though everything is starting to turn dull, the sun seems to shine even brighter, turning the woods into this magical place.

I haven't yet listened to my legs and gone on one of these hikes yet, though I definitely plan on changing that. While I am out there alone, my mind is able to clear away a lot of the stress that can set in from trying to stay on top of everything I am trying to do in my professional life. This stress is like a disease that starts to kill off the passion I have for what I do. When this happens I start to lose motivation to get things done and some of my creative light starts to flicker away. And then I am just doing things to get them done and not enjoying each piece of work I create or each project I am collaborating on.

Through letting myself wander and forget where I am, (though not really because I am not trying to permanently live in the woods) I am able to regain that creative light and to steady my footing to continue on my path. October was a very busy and stressful month, I started to lose sight of why I do all the things I do. Not just because I have to, but because it brings me joy and helps to release the creative juices constantly flowing through me.

I hope you take the time to wander and regain that creative light and release some of the stress that may be bringing you down.

On a side note this was such a fun shoot I did with Katie and Amelia! Looking at these photos it reminded me of falls and winters past that I would take my camera and just go see what I could find. They truly are amazing and work perfectly together!
