Last week was a super busy whirlwind of events and gigs for work. Whenever I have weeks like that (or months) I just want to put on my pjs and sleep for a few days to re-energize my business drive. To be honest this does happen a lot; but lately I have been able to take the usual day off and then I put on my big girl panties and get back into the 'boss lady" swing of things. 

Dressing like a high powered exec helps in my motivation process and imagining I have a gorgeous corner office to conquer the world of makeup and fashion! So follow my lead and when you are feeling tired and drab...take a nap and then get that pencil skirt on and pop on some sky high heels and get to work! 

What do you do to stay motivated, when you are feeling tired and ready to hibernate for a bit?

Work Wear Basic

This linen blazer was such a steal and a great addition to my wardrobe! It is a great piece to throw over some clothes for work to add some flair to an otherwise basic basic work outfit. 

I can also pair this with a dress to either tone down some dressy-ness or bring a casual dress up a notch! A linen blazer doesn't make it feel as constricting or boring as a basic black work blazer, which you may associate unhappy feelings with because you probably have to wear it out of obligation instead of want. 

So make sure you have some "fun" blazers in your wardrobe to help add a polished look to your basic work wear without the snooze-fest.

This look is a great work outfit that is comfortable, yet still polished and professional. These black jeans are my absolute favorite that I have been able to find over the years! This is my second pair, since the first has become a bit faded; so I am going to keep these as my nicer pair and the more worn in ones for more casual wear. They aren't the least expensive pair of pants, but I promise they are truly worth the price because they fit curves well without gaping around the waist. 

With the black jeans I paired a "swazer" over top of my chambray top. This combination changed up the usual tee -"swazer" action and helped to keep me warmer since the weather was still chilled. Lastly I chose to pair this whole ensemble with my nude Coach pumps to add a chic, feminine touch to the whole look. A true expression of my personal style, at least one aspect of it, chic, feminine, comfortable and eclectic. 

What does your typical work wear say about your personal style?  

Polished for Work

 This is the basic outfit that I generally wear when I am working for Dior and traveling to their different counters in the NOVA, DC and Maryland area. Sometimes I get tired of wearing black all the time; but then I stop myself and say black is one of the most sophisticated colors to wear so stop ya whining.  

I don't know what it is about wearing black but it instantly polishes an outfit. Even if the pieces are rather plain or simple looking, if they are black then you instantly look put together and sophisticated. 

Now this doesn't necessarily apply to everything. Such as: if your pants are too short -- no matter what color the pants are they are still high waters and look ridiculous (in my opinion anyways). If your shirt has a neckline down to your belly button and the chance of having a nip slip is very high-- just because that top is black doesn't make it classy. 

But you get what I am saying. Black is one of those perfect neutral colors that really does go with everything, is an easy color to wear and has a magical slimming effect.
