Birthdays: Perfect for Beer & Wine Tastings

Last week was my sister's birthday, she had a friend visiting so we decided to plan a fun day! First stop of the day was to Blue & Gray Brewing Co. in Fredericksburg. It was so delicious! I had the fish and chips and a cherry wheat beer, which was delicious (for someone who is not a beer person to say that definitely means something)! We tried seven of their beers on tap for a bit of a tasting. A must-go-to place for a delicious lunch or for a nice brew in the evening. It is a bit out of the way, but totally worth it!

Our next stop was a return to The Potomac Point Vineyard and Winery. Colleen's friend Kristen had never been to a winery before so we figured this would be the perfect place to bring her to for her first time. We got the classic tasting and were able to try about 7 of their wines. They are great at giving you a nice overview of what you are tasting as well as the history of this magical place. After the tasting we all enjoyed a nice bottle on the rooftop terrace...which we quickly figured out was not the smartest idea, first clue was my face slowly melting under the heat of the midday sun.

The amazing Jenna was also able to join us!

The outfit I pulled together for this outing combined casual with a chic funky side. By chic funky I mean I added the leopard print belt (a definite go to accessory for me) to add a different pattern and texture to the outfit. The shoes added a more chic air to the outfit by sticking with the summer style of a strappy sandal but in a fall color with the little studs adorning them. By the way Talbots shoes are some of the most comfortable shoes in my closet along side my Coach pumps. They are worth the money I have paid for them!

It was such a wonderful way to spend a day and I think my sister enjoyed it immensely as well as her treaties I got her from The Alchemy Shop.

I recommend both of these places either for a date or a girls lunch/evening out!

Adventures at Potomac Point Winery

On Sunday I went to Potomac Point Vineyard & Winery for a tasting and some lunch. My sister's friend Annie was visiting so it was the perfect opportunity to try this place out, especially since it is so close to home!

I had never been to this winery before, so when we pulled up it truly exceeded my expectations! It felt as as if we had been transported to Italy! The weather was so perfect that it made the atmosphere even more magical.

I loved pretty much all the wines we tasted and the food we got was absolutely to die for! I got a lamb panini and for a little treatie afterwards I got the Strawberry and Rhubarb pie. Both were so deliciously mouthwatering and I would love to go to lunch there everyday!

Please go and check it out if you have not had the pleasure yet! Get a glass of wine and some food and let yourself be transported to a relaxing and magical place! Potomac Point Vineyard & Winery is definitely a must-go for all you winery lovers out there!

Lunch at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards

As you know the other day I had a lovely lunch at the amazing Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards with my sister.

We did a little wine tasting to begin the lunch so we could figure out what bottle of wine we wanted with lunch (of course a very important part of the meal!). We decided on the Winemaker's Select White 2012, it was light and refreshing! Perfect for a summer midday meal.

We decided to go the whole nine yards and make it a 3-course meal extravaganza! We started with the beautiful Charcuterie, which as you can see is a hearty mix of meats and bread with a delicious arugula pesto and grape must mustard. It was so so so yummy!

For the main dish we both got the Pippin Sliders, which are two mini burgers (fancy burgers) with a side of parmesan fries.  Again a very delicious choice.

For the treatie part I got the Petit Verdot Cupcakes. I only decided to get these because I saw our waitress walk by with a plate of them for another table. They looked so yummy I just had to have them. They have a creamy thyme frosting paired with the dark chocolate cake. Just the perfect amount of sweet to end a meal. My sister got a glass of the Petit Manseng Vin Doux Naturale (their dessert wine), which was absolutely divine!

We finally packed up and headed home after devouring a 3-course meal, bottle of wine (I didn't drink that much since I had to drive), and  purchased 3 bottles of wine (the Winemaker's Select White 2012, the Petit Manseng Vin Doux Naturale and the Winemaker's Select Red 2011). What a relaxing day it ended up being!

If you have not had the pleasure of stopping in for a glass of wine or a little treatie, please take the time to smell the roses and stop by! The staff is a group of friendly and lovely people who truly make you feel at home. Go check it out!
