On a Rooftop with a Flowercrown

Outfit Details:

flower crown: Made by me
poncho: thrifted
cover up/dress: Elif for Jordan Taylor (c/o)
shoes: Aldo
bracelet: Bauble Bar (similar)
rings: Nordstrom  and Charming Charlie (similar)

The other week I made a trip to Brooklyn to  work with the amazing photographer Brittanny Taylor, as well as getting to work with Rachel Lynch of I Hate Blonde and Maeve, a model from Images Management NYC. They were all so wonderful and I can't wait to work with them again in the future!

So as you know I live in Virginia and this was up and back in one day kind of trip because I had work the next day. What a whirlwind! Before I left in the morning I made this flower crown with some of the left over flowers I had from a shoot over the weekend and a fun project with my cousin's adorable kiddos. I think it turned out quite well, if I do say so myself!

As for the cover up, I received this from Jordan Taylor a while back and was trying to figure out how to wear it so that I didn't look like a cow. As well as try to make it just a bit modest, so that it can be worn for more occasions than just around the beach. So I loosened the straps to have it hang longer and then donned this crocheted poncho that I got from a thrift store! It covers the parts that I want hidden, but doesn't make it too frumpy!

I paired these wedge mary janes from Aldo with it for a boho chic vibe and added the gold accessories for a touch of class.

Heirloom Furs

After the Winter Florals shoot I decided to play dress up with the furs we have in our winter closet. As you know the first one I have in is my mothers\'s. It was her first big purchase as a young adult and obviously a smart one because it has stayed classic and beautiful over the years (lets say 5 years tops :) ).

The next coat was my grandmother's on my mom's side. It is so so war and felt so luxurious on, I truly felt 5 star wearing it.

The last coat was my grandmother's or great-grandmother's on my dad's side, it definitely has lasted throughout the years as well.

It is very special being able to have these pieces of my family's past and something they loved wearing. It just shows you that you are never too old to play dress up!

Accomplishment: Pulling off a Flower Crown

Outfit:
Flower Crown: Prairie Charms
top: piko top
jeans: Cabi
shoes: Ann Taylor
bracelet: Emitations

Finally I was able to style this flower crown in a way that I loved and would be willing to wear on a regular day. I am so glad I waited until after I colored my hair because the color of the crown stands out even more against the mahogany color of my luscious locks.

I decided that to be able to pull off this look, I had to make it look like I wasn't trying too hard to look like everyone else who pulls off this look so well! I chose to keep it simple and went with a white piko shirt, skinny boot cut jeans from Cabi and some sky-high heels from Ann Taylor. I loved wearing this outfit all day! It was perfect for a shopping trip at Trader Joe's for some beautiful flowers for a flower crown I needed to make for a shoot that I have tomorrow.

How do you style your outfits paired with a flower crown?
