Florals and Dots

Outfit Details:
dress: H&M
jacket: Bernardo Leather via Nordstrom
bag: Chictopia
boots: Restricted
sunglasses: Asos
hat: Urban Outfitters
lipstick: Kat von D Studded Lipstick in Wonderchilde

This was such a fun outfit to put together! Sometimes I get shy about mixing patterns and just going for it! Here I didn't even think twice about my choices. I knew I wanted to wear this dress, and then I knew I needed some tights, so I grabbed these. Probably one of the few outfits I haven't over-thought in awhile. And the great thing about it was that I didn't feel self-conscious at all about my choice, which sometimes can happen when I am launching myself out of that safe box. I felt funky and comfortable and myself in this ensemble! This probably means I need to stop over-thinking my outfits all the time and just go for it!

On a side note... this dress is one of my favorites at the moment. It is so easy to throw on and can be styled a few different ways. The greatest thing about it is that It was only 10$ from H&M!!! Super amazing deal.

Do you have a hard time over-thinking out of the box style choices?

When In Doubt Make It a Dress

Outfit Details:
dress: Notations (c/o)
belt: HauteLook
heels: Sole Society
hair freshly done by Daniel at Iva Bella Salon

Notations was so nice to send me some of their pieces to check out and this was one of them. It actually came with a belt, and I believe it is supposed to be a wrap sweater. However, I will say I was slightly apprehensive about wearing this color. Brown is not usually a color I am drawn to wearing, unless it is a darker, chocolatey shade. So I made a decision to just wear it as a wrap dress and figured maybe it would tend towards a slightly 70's look. So I ran with that!

Instead of the tie belt that came with it, I replaced it with a wide belt. Voila! I transformed it into a dress! I definitely liked this look, but I know if my hair was darker, the color would have been more flattering. The material of the dress/ sweater was so extremely soft and a dream to wear!

Stay tuned for more treasures from Notations and NY Collection!

On a side note... I went to the Gilt City Warehouse sale in DC...stay tuned for a peak at those treasures as well!

Getting Out of that Winter Slump

The winter is always a tough time for me. I have plenty of down time that I should use to get all those things done that I had been putting off during my busy season and there is my never ending list of blog work to finish. I just am always able to find excuses not to do something or have no energy or drive to be productive. So by the end of winter and right before my busy season starts I am scrambling to get things done that I had been putting off for weeks!

This winter I have definitely gone through this stage, but thankfully I am aware of my problem and have found ways to shake this funk before the end of my slow time! Here are some steps that I have created to pull me out of the winter abyss:

Step 1: Get out of bed!
Step 2: Workout
Step 3: Put a mask on and relax a little bit and think about what I want to tackle first
Step 4: Paint my nails while mask is working its magic
Step 5: Shower at some point
Step 6: Put a little bit of makeup on
Step 7: Get dressed in a cute outfit
Step 8: Start with one task on my to-do list
Step 9: Make lunch, coffee or dinner plans to get out of the house
Step 10: Repeat until I feel fresh and back to my old self (or a new and improved self)

Now all of these steps may not and most likely will not take place in one day. If it does on your first attempt, way to go!! Otherwise, just take it day by day and slowly ease out of that winter funk. After all we wouldn't want beautiful Spring to see us in such a slump?!
